Bowl History:
The Music City Bowl was first played in 1998 featuring Virginia Tech's 38-7 win over Alabama at Vanderbilt Stadium. The game was moved to LP Field in 1999 following the construction of that field for the NFL's Tennessee Titans. Initially the Music City Bowl pitted teams from the Southeastern Conference and the Big East Conference. However, in 2002 the Big Ten replaced the Big East and in 2006 the Big Ten will be replaced by a representative from the Atlantic Coast Conference.
