Bowl History:
Founded in 2002 as the Continental Tire Bowl, the Meineke Car Care Bowl assumed its current title sponsor in 2005. Since its inception, the bowl has featured a matchup between teams from the Big East and the ACC. However, in 2006 the bowl entered a one-year agreement with the United States Naval Academy in which if Navy was bowl-eligible, they would be selected for the bowl instead of a Big East team.
