Bowl History:
The Gator Bowl is one of the oldest college football bowl games and has been played annually since 1946. The game was played from its inception until 1993 at the Gator Bowl Stadium in downtown Jacksonville, Florida. The game was moved to Florida Field on the campus of the University of Florida in 1996 while Alltel Stadium was constructed on the site of the partially demolished Gator Bowl Stadium. Since 1997 all games have been played at Alltel Stadium.
