The Alamo Bowl began in 1993 and has been played at
the Alamodome in San Antonio since its inception.
The 2005 game, won by the Nebraska Cornhuskers after
trailing in the fourth quarter, ended on a memorable
8-lateral play by the Michigan Wolverines. During
the controversial play, a number of members of both
teams and the media entered the field before the play
was actually blown dead to end the game. The 2007
game (won by Penn State) was also memorable for being
the most-attended event in the Alamo Dome's history
with 66,166 fans filling the facility.
